Mica Kidd Island Fire Protection District
(Press Release)
January 17, 2024
A property tax increase to fund operations at Mica Kidd Island
Fire District has passed!
Voters were approving a permanent levy override on property taxes, with 324 “yes” votes to 162 “no” votes.Per
Idaho Statute, a Super Majority
of 66.67% votes in favor were needed for the levy to pass.
After an error occurred in the November 7, 2023 election in which one voter received the incorrect ballot, the results of
the election had to await judicial review. The Mica Kidd Island
Fire District is pleased to share that the District and Kootenai County stipulated to dismiss the judicial review and an order to dismiss the judicial review was entered. Thus, the initial vote
count stands and the permanent levy override passed.
The Mica Kidd Island Fire District commissioners, staff, and members would like to thank the public for the majority voting in favor of this levy, as well as the overwhelming support while we waited for the results of this election. We look forward to
better serving our constituents
and visitors.
