MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF

Matue.jpg

It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the community’s fire chief, and the outpouring of support and encouragement from everyone humbles me.

When I arrived at Mica Kidd Island Fire District, I knew I had found an extraordinary place. I couldn’t put my finger on it at the time, but I knew that between great people who were focused on serving the community and the many opportunities where I could contribute and make a difference, this was the place I wanted to spend the rest of my career.

As we move forward, I am excited to continue to ensure that Mica Kidd Island Fire Protection District provides excellent service and leadership in both the community and the fire service. Included in this vision is an eye toward quality improvement, continuing to build upon the robustness of current systems to ensure service reliability, and ensuring the Department can continue providing services in a sustainable way.

DISTRICT HISTORY

ABOUT THE MICA KIDD ISLAND FIRE DISTRICT

The Mica Kidd Island Fire Protection District is proud to serve the 39 square mile area around the western shores of Coeur d’Alene Lake. We do this with fifteen very dedicated volunteer emergency responders. They spend a tremendous amount of time training and developing their skills and abilities to proficiently and effectively mitigate the emergency situations we are called to. As our community continues to grow, our mission is ever evolving to improve and develop the District so the people we serve are continually receiving the highest level of emergency services available. We take great pride in being able to offer these services to our community and will continue to train and improve our members to serve in a prompt, safe, and professional manner.

Our District provides the following services: Fire Suppression, Vehicle Rescue and Extrication, Hazardous Materials Mitigation, Basic Life Support EMS services, Fire Code Compliance and Prevention, Marine Rescue and Firefighting, Public Fire Safety Education, Fire Extinguisher Training, and CPR Training.

To accomplish our mission, we need your support and understanding of our operations. I hope that our web site contributes to building an even better and stronger partnership between us.
